Father's Day 2016

Sometimes when children ask you what you want for Father's Day they actually listen .......

Bit of Shopping for PJ

During our trip out to Solihull we called in to Tiger (in Touchwood) - well, it's good to look around.  lol

PJ is finding it difficult to bend down to trim the tomatoes at the moment and right in the entrance of the shop was a pile of metal stools.  Looking closer I realised that they were just the right height for trimming tomatoes!!!!
There were several colours but I knew that it was going to be black, so manly ...... so easy to find in among the green leaves!

I carried my lovely black stool home proudly and it was perfect.
Please note that it still has the brown protective paper on the legs .........

New Neighbours

We have new neighbours who have promptly removed their garden and paved the area.  We don't have an issue with that although we can see no drainage channel at the edge and 'look forward' to the first rainstorm when, with the extra water from their driveway, there will be a greater chance of our drains being blocked..... time will tell.
Today's lunchtime a dumper truck drove up and several noisy minutes later our front view changed ......
 We have several theories .........
1)  'Someone' has upset the landscapers
2) The landscapers have upset someone where they 'flytipped' the rubble in the first place.
3) The landscapers have not been paid!!!

For whatever reason the road is now well and truly difficult to drive along.  School traffic is always bad but now it is down to single file .......
Did I mention that the next door neighbour cannot now park his car outside his house!!!
The new neighbour lady did mention that she was having the frontage altered - pavement view and all that - well, she has a 'beautiful' frontage now!!!

Paris 5 - at the market - again

When we left the room on this sunny morning we strolled around the market and found a couple of small surprises ....

A small box containing two small films and a viewer.  The film is of our Queen's CORONATION!!
How marvellous is that!
To find something about our Queen in the middle of a flea market in Paris!!
I bargained with the man and bought it at my price.  I am so pleased with it.  The film still fits in the viewer and it shows the carriage and horses and Abbey and .....

On another stall I found this tiny photograph album.  The writing says Studio "Express"
All photographic works
and works of amateurs
to 27, Metalsmith Road
(near the station)
Douai

At the market I found these photos inside and was very satisfied as I can use them on my ATCs.
On the back of this album it says - Expansions of all Kinds - which I think means 'Enlargements'.

Back at the Hotel, I examined this more closely and found that the 'blue' paper was in fact a religious reliquary.
On the front cover it says -
In grateful remembrance of orphans-apprentices (from) Auteuil (West Paris)

On the back it says -
I want to spend my heaven doing good on earth ~ Sainte Therese.

Inside there are several 'compartments.
The left one contains a photo of a bearded man.  The second one contained a small medallion on small piece of linen with a plastic cover to protect it.  The writing says -
Medal and petal blessed (by touching) the relics of the little saint.
The next compartment is empty and the next one says -
Under the protection of St. Therese of the Child Jesus and Reverend Father Brottier.

More information of the Reverend Father here.  The material has also been 'touched' by Father Brottier who has now been Beatified by Pope John Paul II.

What amazing finds in this little market - I shall come back here and search among the stalls again!
