Memories of a Brummie girl from the fifties to date. These are my gift to the generations that come after me.

Visiting Birmingham Snowhill Station.
On our way to the meal last night we went into town by train, alighting at Snowhill Station.
We walked across the square and settled down to wait for N.
I am astounded how this area has changed, I know it must be for the better, and it really is beautiful, clean and shiny.
Travelling into town during the rush hour and seeing all the office folks rushing to get the train home brought back some memories ..... and it sure felt good walking the opposite way!!
It is surprising how life carries on and yet changes, the square was the same, the Big Issue Seller just outside the station entrance but the Newspaper seller was no longer in view, the coffee house had chairs and tables outside.
I started to take photos of all the new builds round the square, the tall office block that replaced Greys Department Store at the end of the road.
The new office block that sits where part of the old Snow Hill Station once stood ......
The new office blocks built since I retired, the leaning tower is No 1, followed by No 2 with No 3 nearing completion.
The living wall leading from the station to those new buildings, a wonderful mixture of plants!
The new Metro link is appearing, the rails are set now all the way down to New Street Station, which reopens this month with its modern advertising boards and massive shopping centre.
PJ and I will go for a stroll round after the novelty wears off, which usually takes about two weeks!! Then we will have a good look round at the station and the shops, supposedly holds the largest John Lewis store in Britain (watch this space!).

Then I spotted 'the train'.
A matter of interest for a gardener like me!!!

Birmingham Parliament
We went for a meal with N the other day. Anyone who knows me knows that my life is never that simple - PJ says "Life's an adventure and every day is a new one!"
So there are the three of us sitting in our favourite Italian restaurant and enjoying a catch up, dinner, sweet and a drink ... or two ....
We chatted, ate and laughed then made our way home, strolling through the town uphill towards St Phillip's (Birmingham Cathedral) when I spied some Owl Statues.
I veered towards the right to see the first owl I had spotted and then the others joined me, one with a phone camera ......
We crossed the road towards the rail station and .....
.... in the entrance .....
.... Dr Whoot!
What a super end to a great night!

.... amid much laughter, of course, we went to have a look at all the other owls, laughing, snapping and posing ......
We were laughing so much as we came to the roadside that we had lost all decorum ....
.... if we ever had any in the first place!
