Visiting Birmingham Snowhill Station.

On our way to the meal last night we went into town by train, alighting at Snowhill Station.
Old Style

We walked across the square and settled down to wait for N.
New Style

I am astounded how this area has changed, I know it must be for the better, and it really is beautiful, clean and shiny.

End of Colmore Row
Travelling into town during the rush hour and seeing all the office folks rushing to get the train home brought back some memories ..... and it sure felt good walking the opposite way!!
Straight down Colmore Row

It is surprising how life carries on and yet changes, the square was the same, the Big Issue Seller just outside the station entrance but the Newspaper seller was no longer in view, the coffee house had chairs and tables outside.

I started to take photos of all the new builds round the square,  the tall office block that replaced Greys Department Store at the end of the road.

Towards Snowhill Station

The new office block that sits where part of the old Snow Hill Station once stood ......

The new office blocks built since I retired, the leaning tower is No 1, followed by No 2 with No 3 nearing completion.
Living wall

The living wall leading from the station to those new buildings, a wonderful mixture of plants!

Towards the Metro

The new Metro link is appearing, the rails are set now all the way down to New Street Station, which reopens this month with its modern advertising boards and massive shopping centre.
Metro Rails

PJ and I will go for a stroll round after the novelty wears off, which usually takes about two weeks!!  Then we will have a good look round at the station and the shops, supposedly holds the largest John Lewis store in Britain (watch this space!).

 Then I  spotted 'the train'.

A matter of interest for a gardener like me!!!
