Arty Day

So we had been to town - again!! - and it was terribly hot, really didn't feel like sewing but needed to be in the shade, then I thought of painting my 'twirlies'.
These are sooo old I cannot remember where I bought them from, just lots of wooden rods stitched together and then twisted.  Over the last couple of years I have started painting them a different colour every years just to brighten them up .............so I looked through my pots - little sample pots from Homebase - and found some brushes and off I went.
These two towards the top of the garden were painted yellow with lurid green and pink with yellow.  The yellow one looked awful so I went through my tubs and changed it to a bright coral with lemon - bright lemon!!

I then went to work on my oldest and first one, so old it was falling to pieces but with a needle and thread - yes! I know I said I didn't feel like sewing but I am in a creating mood now - and more pink and a touch of red ................
Here's the old soldier ready for another year of twirling and amusing me.  Even with its new coat of paint it's looking a bit tired don't you think?  nah! lots of life in it yet!

What you do is paint the twirly on both sides and then add a stripe down the ONE side.  Last year I think this one was yellow (a nice soft yellow) and (deep, dark) red down one side but it didn't really work for me.  This year the raspbery red stripe goes up and down on the pink - luverly!!!!

Now you see it - the red stripe

Now it has moved up ........................

Little things ...........

I was asked to look after a little fella a long time ago and he has grown very scruffy over the years.  He's just a mooning gnome, something different and owned by someone with a warped sense of humour, I don't know why I have hung onto him ............ maybe I am waiting for his real owner to come and claim him.
I made a list of colours I neeeded to renew him and kept the list in my bag for such a time as I would visit Homebase ( and I would remember it was in my handbag - of course!!!)

So it all came together and there I am out in the sunshine, painting being arty and looking round for something else to paint -------  THE OLD FELLA!!!!!

So onto my table he comes, everybit of him painted with matt and gloss paint from my pots and also some of PJ's arifix paints.  Oh yes!        good job done!              how long has this been waiting?  ...............

here he is all done up and still being cheeky!!  I cannot think what the fairies are saying of him!  lol
Just look at that expression!!!
Cheeky, cheeky!!!
