Yes! we did have some rain!!!!

I love to look through the bedroom window when it is raining and watch the formations of the little rivers along the pavements and gutters.  This summer we have had a lot, a super amount, a phenomenal amount of rain.
It varied from just drizzling all day to intermittent showers to real, monsoon rain.

One such time, before I noticed that the extension roof leaked, I ran upstairs as the rain pelted down with an unbelievable force - well, for England as we are a bit more sedate here!!!

Within a few minutes the road outside our frontage was flooded.

Still the rain came down, at one point the other side of the road could not be seen as the rain was so heavy.  A small vortex started up in the middle of the road as the water did not know which way to go - we are at the bottom of two small hill - just a dip in the road!!

 As the rain stopped and the sky brightened, the flood was taking the car drivers by surprise, although I am glad I was inside the house and not on the pavement opposite as this van went past!!!

The rain water took some time to leave, there are four drains here, two at the bottom of our drive and two opposite but they just could not cope with the amount of water.




This will definitely be a summer to remember.  We have had several such flash floods since but none as bad as this.
