BHF Summer Meet Up

The Birmingham History Forum meeting was held at The Bull deep in old Birmingham ......... click the link and you can see how quaint it is.

Great food and great company meant we had a busy afternoon, chatter, food, chatter and raffles.

We had caught the train into the City and a bus out, but this entailed quite a long walk from the bus stop, and then we found out it was only a five minute walk from the station!!!
If we'd had a proper Brummie driver he would have told us, but our driver couldn't speak English and it was a passenger who explained where to get off and how to get to the pub!!

I won a very old book about the Crown Hotel in Deritend, tells the history of the building but written in the 1800s.

We walked back along the dual carriage way and saw a lot more of life ............ traffic queues were building up as the underpasses through town were closed for refurbishment..........................

a wedding at the Cathedral.................

 a wedding with a difference!!!

A red bus!!

If you look carefully you can see the wedding party outside the Cathedral

These ladies in the Hotel opposite had a ring side view!

After walking back to the train in the 'Summer Heat' it was glorious to sit in the air conditioned train ......... so much so that we stayed on a further three stops and caught the bus back home!!!
